Empyrean Bracelet | Vintage West German Pink Moonglow Glass
Designer: Grandmothers Buttons
The vintage West German pink moonglow glass button centering this bracelet makes us imagine an Empyrean Heaven. In ancient cosmologies, this was the highest heaven and was thought to be occupied by the element of fire.
Moonglow glass has an opaque interior, sealed with a clear top, creating a satiny, glowing appearance. Moonglow glass was created by West German button artisans in 1954 and remained popular until the early 1960s.
We chose one of our favorite brass stampings for this design. It was carved in the 1920s and blends the flowing lines of Art Nouveau with the more angular symmetry of Art Deco, creating a subtle early 20th-century motif.
